|Aims and Objectives||The Bachelor of Science (Honours) Scheme in Applied Sciences comprising the following three programmes aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and competencies to become a professional in the relevant sector.|

In the Health Studies programme, the teaching team includes experienced medical and healthcare professionals. During the course, students are encouraged to participate in field experience and scholarly activities. Among the first 43 graduates in 2016, nine had been admitted to the Master’s programmes at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong in infection control, health informatics, public health and sports medicine. Job offers included marketing in health professional education, administration in Hospital Authority and private hospitals, Government ambulance service, quality control and sales in pharmaceutical companies, sales in health device companies, NGO community projects, etc.
The Information Systems and Web Technologies programme is taught by faulty members of PolyU SPEED and qualified professionals. For the Web Technologies part, students will learn the necessary knowledge and skills for to develop web sites at the front-end and supporting programs and database at the back-end. Students will also be taught how to design and implement e-commerce strategies. For the Information Systems part, students will acquire knowledge on Management Information Systems, Project Management, and Computer Security. Electives include Mobile Application Development and System Analysis and Design. Graduates from the programme can work as web site developers, IT support, network administrator and database support.
For the Statistics and Data Science programme, our teaching team includes professionals in the fields of mathematics, statistics, computer science and business. During the course, students will learn a range of data management tools and statistical software, including SAS, R, SPSS, Microsoft Excel (VBA) and SQL Server. In addition, students are encouraged to take professional examinations (e.g. SAS Global Certification program) and exam preparation workshops (by experienced instructors) are arranged biannually. Graduates can work as customer data analyst, statistical analyst, data science business analyst, data strategy and analytics officer, research officer, researcher, digital analyst, statistical officer, data scientist and statistician.

|Professional Recognition||Students of the Information Systems and Web Technologies programme are eligible to apply for student membership with the ISACA (Previously known as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association)and Hong Kong Computer Society.|
Students of the Health Studies programme are eligible to apply as Associate Members of the Hong Kong College of Health Service Executives (HKCHSE), as Student Members of Society for Health Systems (SHS), Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Association (HKOSHA) and Hong Kong Community Care Society (HKCCS), and as Affiliated Members of Hong Kong Institute of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene (HKIOEH).
Students of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Sciences (Statistics and Data Science) will receive exemption from Modules 1, 2 and 3 of the Hong Kong Statistical Society if they have completed the required specific subjects with satisfactory results upon completion of the programme.
