Aims and ObjectivesThe Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Building Engineering and Management aims to produce graduates who can be developed as highly competent and professional building engineers for Hong Kong, China and the international market. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and ability to contribute effectively to project and facilities management teams which are engaged in complex building projects.

Professional RecognitionThe programme was transferred to PolyU SPEED from the Department of Building and Real Estate (BRE) of PolyU. SPEED has maintained the core elements of the BRE Programme. Full accreditation has already been granted by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)*, the UK and the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers (HKICM) for this programme. SPEED is seeking the recognition from The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) for its programme.

*The programme is a CIOB accredited course, having been judged to meet the CIOB Education Framework. Prospective members holding this qualification will have full academic exemption and once they have gained three to five years' relevant work experience, they may enter CIOB membership as an applicant to progress towards Chartered Membership without the requirement for an Individual Assessment.
