Aims and ObjectivesThe Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering aims to provide a diverse up-to-date education in mechanical and related engineering. Technical study topics are carefully selected to reflect the urgent and potential needs of Hong Kong society and industry.

On completion of the programme, students will acquire:
• know-how in traditional and emerging mechanical engineering activities such as environmental engineering;
• readiness to play a crucial role in any engineering or engineering-related business; and
• awareness of evolving technology and the ability to adapt to change.

The programme has recently been validated and approved by PolyU in March 2018 for implementation as from 2018/19. Please refer to the section "Programme Structure" for the updated programme curriculum subsequent to the validation exercise.

Professional RecognitionThis programme is transferred from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) of PolyU with the core elements of the existing programme remaining unchanged. PolyU SPEED, with the support from ME, will seek the continuation of the recognition from the professional body concerned after programme commencement.

The existing part-time Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering offered by ME has been granted provisional accreditation by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).
