Aims and ObjectivesThe Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical Engineering aims to provide a sound and up-to-date education in electrical and related engineering. The programme is designed with the following objectives:

  • To train electrical engineers who will be able to practise their profession worldwide while being particularly competent to do so in the context of Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland.
  • To nurture students with a broad base of knowledge in electrical engineering and its current applications.
  • To prepare students for working life including the skills needed for critical thinking, effective communication, problem solving, and lifelong learning.
  • To develop electrical engineers with the understanding of their obligations to society.

Professional RecognitionThis programme is designed based on the existing part-time Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical Engineering offered by the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) of PolyU with the core elements of the existing programme remaining unchanged. PolyU SPEED, with the support from EE, will seek the continuation of the recognition from The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).

The existing part-time Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical Engineering offered by EE has been granted provisional accreditation by the HKIE.
