This course is offered in collaboration with The Institute of Purchasing & Supply of Hong Kong (the ‘IPSHK’) to enable the practitioners, students and other members of the general public in related fields, to learn more about smart purchasing & supply as well as e-procurement in logistics. It will be a valuable chance for you to acquire contemporary knowledge for career development or further studies.

Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
‧ identify and explain the purchasing concepts in context of interactive relationships with suppliers and supply chain management.
‧ apply conceptual of smart purchasing and the emerging themes which are impacting on it.
‧ appreciate the key strategies and tactics for smart purchasing & strategic purchasing and supply.
‧ examine case studies of smart purchasing and strategic purchasing and supply practices in local & global contexts.

‧ Concepts of purchasing and the trend of smart purchasing
‧ Roles and objectives of smart purchasing
‧ Strategic planning in smart purchasing

Session II
‧ From smart purchasing to smart supply management
‧ Key strategies and tactics for smart purchasing & supply management
‧ Best practices of smart purchasing and supply management: Case studies

Teaching and Learning Methods:
Seminar will be used to introduce the concepts in relation to purchasing & supply as well as supply chain management. Case studies, group discussions and presentations will be used to deepen the understanding of the subject matter and learn from the practices of local and multinational organizations.
