This course is offered in collaboration with The Institute of Purchasing & Supply of Hong Kong (the ‘IPSHK’) to enable the practitioners, students and other members of the general public in related fields, to learn more about smart purchasing & supply as well as e-procurement in logistics. It will be a valuable chance for you to acquire contemporary knowledge for career development or further studies.

Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
‧ appreciate the trend and impact of e-Procurement and IT applications in Purchasing and how it adds values to Supply Chain Management (SCM).
‧ appreciate the models and key features of e-Procurement and the use of latest technologies.
‧ consider local and international successful cases in e-Procurement and e-SCM implementations.

Indicative Contents:
Session I
‧ Concept of e-Procurement and its benefits.
‧ Key components and features of e-Procurement systems
‧ Success cases sharing: e-procurement infrastructure design, process mapping, data building, authorization matrix and category framework integration, key performance indicators (KPIs) and report parameters setting

Session II
‧ Latest trend and developments of e-procurement and its crucial linkage with electronic supply chain management (e-SCM): revolution from traditional SCM to latest SCM 4.0
‧ Success cases sharing: e-SCM on supplier management (e-registration, e-documentations, e-rating), paperless transactions (electronic data interchange (EDI), advanced shipment notice (ASN), vendor managed inventory (VMI) and/or IoT sensing replenishment), supplier fulfillment management (suppler enablement, track & trace critical data & process elements and/or electronic product code information srvices (EPCIS))

Teaching and Learning Methods:
Seminar will be used to introduce the concepts in relation to purchasing & supply as well as supply chain management. Case studies, group discussions and presentations will be used to deepen the understanding of the subject matter and learn from the practices of local and multinational organizations.
