College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE)

The College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE), founded in 2002 by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), focuses on the provision of high quality self-financed programmes at the post-secondary level. The programmes are offered through CPCE’s two education units, namely Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) and School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED).

CPCE’s vision is to enhance and support the development of students seeking to work in a knowledge-based economy.  In pursuit of this vision, HKCC aspires to becoming the preferred community college in Hong Kong.  SPEED’s ambition is to promote intellectual and personal development through professional programmes and learning opportunities which prepare students to excel, lead and serve.

The mission of CPCE is to offer quality higher education opportunities for senior secondary school leavers, sub-degree graduates and mature students that provide a solid foundation for career development, further study and life-long learning.

In pursuing this objective, HKCC’s mission is to support the academic and career development of secondary school graduates by offering them a wide range of high quality sub-degree educational programmes, as well as all-round development opportunities, in a state-of-the-art campus environment.  HKCC’s programmes span the domains of arts, sciences, social sciences, business, design and health studies.

SPEED is driven by a mission to provide professionally oriented, flexible, multi-disciplinary pathways for sub-degree holders aspiring to attain undergraduate degrees.  SPEED offers a comprehensive portfolio of PolyU-SPEED top-up bachelor’s degree programmes, mostly at honours level, along with other education options in support of professional development, including short courses.

Both SPEED and HKCC emphasize the importance of all-round development by providing for their students a wide array of academic and co-curricular activities in a supportive environment.  These activities seek to nurture students’ communication and creative skills as well as their independent and critical thinking abilities.
