Biography

Before joining the School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Dr Chan Yui-choi Thomas has worked for different research projects in the fields of Social Sciences and Cultural Studies in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The research themes are about Urban Changes in Hong Kong, Gender Issues, Elderly Life, and Hong Kong Cultural Heritage. 

Dr Chan received his PhD degree in Gender Studies (Intercultural Studies) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2016 and his Bachelor degree in Social Work in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2001. Having extensive experiences in teaching and researching cultural phenomena and social issues, he enjoys exploring the meanings of everyday life with students in cultural and social perspectives.
