“PolyU SPEED Career Talk Series: Talent Acquisition in Greater China”
Guides Novices towards Better Careers

Globalisation is blurring terrestrial boundaries. Being Asia’s World City, Hong Kong attracts the inflow of talent with different cultural background from Greater China and around the world. Therefore, local graduates are facing fierce competitions in the local job market.

The School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) held a Career Talk Series “Talent Acquisition in Greater China” at the Chiang Chen Studio Theatre, PolyU on 27 November 2015 to discuss the latest development of talent market in Greater China. Mr Thomas Ma, Director, Regulatory and Program Recognition (Asia Pacific), CFA Institute, Ms Lancy Chui, Senior Vice President, Greater China Region, ManpowerGroup, Ms Elise Lau, Director of Human Resources, Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong, and Ms Amy Chak, Group Human Resources Director (China & Hong Kong), Shun Tak Holdings Limited, were invited to share their tips on looking for a job and insights on career planning for the novices.  Mr Lai Kam-tong, Human Resources Director, A-World Consulting Limited, served as the moderator of the event.

Dr W.K. Yung, Deputy Director of PolyU SPEED, said in his speech that the ubiquity of the Internet, social media and smartphones increases the mobility in the contemporary job market. Therefore, no matter what professions the graduates intend to enter, they can set their sights on Hong Kong as well as Greater China when searching for jobs. Dr Yung added that, with some of its subjects centered on the cross-Strait issues, PolyU SPEED keeps students abreast of the latest development in Greater China and enhance their competitive edge in the job seeking process.
