Dr. Jessie Zhao received her Master’s degree in Psychology of Excellence at the Munich University, Germany and majored in Educational and Differential Psychology. She obtained a PhD degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her dissertation focuses on gratitude in the field of Positive Psychology. She has conducted some research on gratitude, subjective well-being, artistic creativity, as well as on gifted education in Hong Kong.

She had experiences in teaching and research in mainland China, Germany, and Hong Kong for more than ten years. She had experiences in communicating with college students in Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in China. She provided courses such as Educational Psychology and delivered public speech and workshops for students as well as teachers. She also had frontline experiences in counseling college students. In addition, she had some years of management experiences in both companies and university.

Since 2010, she has joined PolyU SPEED and taught Psychology-relevant courses such as Social Psychology, Positive Psychology, and Developmental Psychology. She believes that there are seeds of greatness in each and every student. Teaching is to provide cultivation—shedding light and watering, and the seeds can grow and realize their potential of greatness.

Her research interests include gratitude and well-being, social and emotional development of adolescents, giftedness and creativity, and counseling and guidance.
