Aims and Objectives

The programme aims to equip students with the required transferable skills and knowledge for enhancement of the daily living activities of active elderly people.

This new programme has been approved by PolyU in June 2018.

Normal Duration

2 years (part-time mode)

Medium of Instruction

Chinese (Cantonese when spoken) supplemented with English

Credits Required for Graduation

30 credits

Programme Structure

The programme consists of 10 compulsory subjects of 3 credits each

Students who have completed 30 credits of study with satisfactory results will be awarded the Diploma in Active Ageing.

Students who have completed 9 credits of study with satisfactory results may apply to exit the programme of study with the exit award of Certificate in Active Ageing

Study schedule

Classes will be held during daytime on weekdays/ weekends on PolyU Hung Hum Bay Campus or PolyU West Kowloon Campus.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are expected to have the following qualification:

  • Secondary 6 or equivalent, OR
  • Secondary 5 or equivalent plus 3 years of full-time work experience, OR
  • QF Level 3 qualification.


Applicants who cannot provide proof of attainment of the requisite qualification but have accumulated at least 10 years of work experience in senior positions will also be considered on an individual basis.  They will be required to demonstrate to the Admission Interview Panel their ability to complete the programme.


Application Fee: Free of charge for 2018/19

Tuition Fee: HK$1,865 per credit for 2018/19 academic year (Tuition fee is charged on a semester basis)

Supporting Facilities

Most of the classes will be held on PolyU Hung Hom Bay (HHB) Campus and PolyU West Kowloon (WK) Campus. Both PolyU Hung Hom Bay Campus and PolyU West Kowloon Campus are equipped with state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities. All students are entitled to access the library, computing and sports facilities at both campuses.
