Ms Geeta Bhavnani has been working in the field of English Language Teaching for over fifteen years, having taught at various institutes such as the former Vocational Training Council and at local secondary schools before joining this institution in 2005.


She is involved in programme development on the BA Scheme of Language and Communication as well as being the Work-Integrated Education (WIE) Advisor and Integrated Studies Advisor.


She is currently a Lecturer in the Division of Languages and Communication and serves as Assistant English Team Leader.


She is a trained Cambridge BULATS examiner as well as an OET interlocutor and has also gained an in-depth knowledge of the HKDSE English Language papers.


As a Business and Workplace English lecturer, she is particularly interested in showing students how to develop and use English, both inside and outside the classroom.


Geeta is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Language Sciences.  Her research revolves around sociolinguistics, bilingualism, multilingualism, and code switching.  She is currently writing about identity and the linguistic abilities of the ethnic minority population in Hong Kong.  


Being fluent in English, Cantonese, Hindi and Sindhi, she is interested in studying how cultural identity and languages have shifted in Hong Kong.
