Dr Joseph Chan obtained his BSc (Hons) degree in Construction Economics and Management, MSc degree in Project Management and PhD degree in Construction Project Management from the Department of Building and Real Estate, PolyU. He started his surveying profession as a quantity surveyor in 2005 by joining a local leading quantity surveying consulting firm. He is a quantity surveyor by profession.

Dr Chan has worked in a number of tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. He is also a Member of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (MHKIS), Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Project Management (MHKIPM). He has produced over 30 publications in refereed journal papers, international refereed conference papers, consultancy reports, and other written outputs.
