Dr Florence Ho is teaching management-related subjects for a number of degree programmes offered by this institution and its overseas partnering universities. In addition, she has served as the Assistant Programme Director, Programme Leader of the BA (Hons) in Business (Human Resource Management) and BA in Psychological Studies, and GE Subject Co-ordinator. Florence also chaired the School’s Learning and Teaching Committee and sat on the Programme Committee. She has been nominated as Convenor of Management Division, and member of the College Board, Ethics Committee and GE Committee.
As a Senior Research Fellow with the Public Policy Institute and Institute for Entrepreneurship, PolyU, Florence has been involved in numerous public policy research studies and consultancy projects. Florence sat on the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR), Education Bureau.
In addition, Florence also serves as an Honorary Project Director with the Center for Family Business, CUHK Business School, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Specialist of Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualification (HKCAAVQ).
She has given presentations in numerous international and regional conferences, and published two book chapters on family business. Her recent research focus is on family business, entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility in the workplace, continuing education and life-long learning.
Florence was trained as a human resource management generalist and got her doctorate in human resource development and organisation development from George Washington University, USA in 2006. She has extensive corporate experience as a senior executive, having worked in both public and private sectors. She is specialised in strategic human resource management, learning and development, and organisation development. She has taught at the Copenhagen School of Business, Denmark; University of Lund, Sweden; degree programmes at SPACE; and MBA programmes offered by Western Sydney University, Sloane School of Management, MIT, hosted by Lingnan (University) College, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou. She has also conducted training workshops for various government departments in Macau, SAR; leadership development programmes for senior executives from multinational corporations, and privately-owned enterprises, and officials from State-owned enterprises, PRC.
Florence has managed / led a number of consulting projects commissioned by OECD, UNDP and the World Bank.
Florence is also a trained executive coach and Master Action Learning Coach. Currently, she serves as Adviser (Asian Region), World Institute for Action Learning; and Member of Family Firm Institute.
