The BA (Hons) in Business (Innovation and Design Management) is a new programme first introduced in 2021 under the BA (Hons) Scheme in Business at PolyU SPEED. This is the first and only undergraduate programme of its kind in Hong Kong, focusing on Innovation and Design Management (IDM).
The IDM programme aims to train business students to think like designers when solving business problems. Design management is not just about managing designers but focuses on the process of designing products and services and fostering a culture of innovation. This talk series will help you gain a better understanding of how and why Design Thinking is an important skill in-demand by employers.

Dr Chris Yin is the Award Leader of PolyU SPEED’s BA (Hons) in Business (Innovation and Design Management), the first undergraduate programme in Design Management available in Hong Kong. This unique programme aims to provide students with a holistic view of the innovation process in developing products and services for all industries and equip them with general business knowledge for their future careers as managers.
Design Thinking for App Development in Hong Kong
How is Design Thinking used for mobile app development? The speaker will share case studies integrating Design Thinking in the mobile app development process and explain how it is important to solve customer needs with innovation and creativity.

Keith Li is the Co-founder and CEO of Innopage Limited, a mobile applications development startup in Hong Kong. Innopage has received multiple industry awards for its innovative technology and products since 2010.
Keith is a part-time lecturer at Hong Kong Baptist University and PolyU SPEED; he is also Vice-Chairman of Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA).
Design Thinking for Social Innovation in Hong Kong
How can Design Thinking enable innovation for government agencies, non-profit organisations and startup social enterprises in Hong Kong? The speaker will share case studies from her practice with clients using Design Thinking tools and provide a practical understanding of the Design Thinking process.

Ms Iris Wan, Founder of D2B Consulting Company, specialises in co-creation, public engagement and leadership development. Her work involves design thinking to help solve critical problems for government departments, large non-profit-making and startup social enterprises.
Iris is actively involved in public service including appointments by the HKSAR Government include Member of Consumer Council, Member of Legal Aid Services Council, Member of Transport Advisory Committee and Co-opted Member of The Board of Management of the Chinese Permanent Cemeteries; she is also Global Shaper of the Hong Kong Hub under the World Economic Forum.
