Language and Cultural Exchange Tour to New Zealand
30 Jun 2024
From 14 to 30 June 2024, ten students of PolyU HKCC and PolyU SPEED participated in the “Language and Cultural Exchange Tour to New Zealand”, where they took part in a two-week programme at the English Language Academy (ELA) of the University of Auckland to learn about culture and communication. Meanwhile, by staying at host families, the students interacted with Kiwis and immersed in a genuine English-speaking environment which strengthened their intercultural communication skills, improved their English proficiency, and broadened their international horizons.
Enthralled by the breathtaking natural scenery of the Rotorua, Waitomo and the Hobbiton Movie Set, the students had the privilege to enjoy a private tour to visit a glowworm cave, to learn about Maori village and to taste indigenous cuisine - Hangi. They also had their very first time riding a horse and visited a college for the innovative open-classroom concept. All the participants returned with more than a physical award – a certificate from the ELA. They also benefited greatly on an emotional level and gained memorable experiences from the tour.
