Nurture Talents: Graduation Ceremony for Certificate in Traffic Engineering

On 13 December 2024, PolyU SPEED organised the graduation ceremony for the Certificate in Traffic Engineering at PolyU West Kowloon Campus. Mr Patrick Ho, JP, Deputy Commissioner/Planning and Technical Services, Transport Department, attended the ceremony to share their joy of achievement on the occasion.
When delivering the welcome speech, Dr Jason Chan, MH, JP, Associate Dean (Information and Development) and Director of PolyU SPEED, mentioned the implementation of time-varying tolls at the three road harbour crossings. Dr Chan expressed that the achievement of the Transport Department in promoting the development of Hong Kong’s traffic and transport system is obvious. He encouraged the graduates to join hands with the Transport Department to build a safe, efficient and well-connected traffic and transport system to meet the needs of various sectors of society.
In his thank you speech, graduate representative Mr Chan Hin-shing expressed his gratitude to the instructors for their guidance and the college for providing a productive learning environment. The graduates gained essential technical knowledge in traffic engineering from professional training, which was very useful for their future work.
Mr Chow Bing-kay, Assistant Commissioner/Urban, Transport Department, and Dr Jason Chan presented the certificates to the graduates. The Course Development and Teaching Team members were also present to witness the results of their joint efforts.
The 10-month Certificate in Traffic Engineering course, an in-house training course pitched at QF Level 4, is designed to equip the newly joined Technical Officer Trainees (Traffic) in the Transport Department with the workplace skills they need.
