PolyU CPCE and Honeycomb Aerospace Technologies Sign MOU to Drive the Development of the Low-altitude Economy in Hong Kong

PolyU CPCE and Honeycomb Aerospace Technologies (Beijing) Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 3 July 2026 to establish a strategic collaborative framework.
The partnership aims to actively support and drive the development of the Low-altitude Economy in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. The collaboration will be spearheaded by PolyU SPEED, an educational unit under PolyU CPCE.
Under the MOU, PolyU SPEED and Honeycomb Aerospace will explore comprehensive industry-academia collaborations across several key areas:
- Joint Research & Development: Collaborating on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies, including autonomous flight control, payload integration, and data analytics.
- Curriculum & Talent Cultivation: Developing specialised academic and executive training programmes on drone technology and safety standards, alongside establishing internship programmes to build a robust talent pipeline.
- Joint Innovation Hub: Exploring the establishment of an on-campus joint laboratory for applied research and prototyping.
- Commercial Pilot Projects: Identifying opportunities for the commercial application of drone technology in various sectors.
The MOU was officially signed by Dr Jason Chan, MH, JP, Director of PolyU SPEED and Associate Dean (Information and Development) of PolyU CPCE, and Mr Waseem Chen, Vice-president of Honeycomb Aerospace Technologies. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Prof. Peter Yuen, Dean of PolyU CPCE.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in integrating professional education with cutting-edge aviation technology, serving as a new engine for Hong Kong's innovation and technology development.
