School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED), the educational unit of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)-affiliated College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE), in collaboration with PCCW Solutions, has launched an internship programme. A kick-off ceremony signifying the collaboration was held on 9 April, 2019 at the PolyU Hung Hom Bay Campus.

This collaboration with PCCW Solutions provides PolyU SPEED students of BSc (Hons) in Applied Sciences (Information Systems and Web Technologies) and BSc (Hons) in Applied Sciences (Statistics and Data Science) with a one-year internship experience to gain valuable hands-on experience in the workplace.

At the kick-off ceremony, Dr Jack Lo, Director of PolyU SPEED, said the School always places a strong emphasis on Work-Integrated Education (WIE). Through the WIE programme, students can gain valuable opportunities to experience real business operations, understand job requirements, and enhance communication skills and competitiveness so that they will be well-equipped for the career market. He encouraged students with a quote from Ziad K. Abdelnour, “Never let success get to your head and never let failure get to your heart”, and wished them success in finding the job of their dream through internship opportunities.

Ms Louisa M.Y. Hung, Vice President of Human Resources of PCCW, mentioned that with the rapid development of Information Technology in recent years, new technology applications in areas of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Cloud Computing, etc. have emerged. In view of this, PCCW will recruit fresh graduates and young talents from the next generation to join the team in order to cope with its business development in different areas.
