PolyU SPEED Official Statement: Alert on Fraudulent Recruitment and Joint Progression Programmes

The School of Professional Education and Executive Development of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU SPEED) has recently observed an increase in fraudulent student recruitment advertisements circulating online and in the community (particularly on mainland Chinese social media and online platforms). Various institutions or intermediaries have falsely claimed, without authorisation, to be co-organising progression programmes with PolyU SPEED (for example, claiming that students can complete their first year of study at a mainland institution and then articulate to PolyU SPEED for the second to fourth years to ultimately obtain a degree awarded by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; or other so-called “1+3” and “2+2” programmes, and guaranteed admission schemes), and have even forged promotional materials to mislead the public.
To protect the interests of applicants and to safeguard the School’s reputation, PolyU SPEED hereby issues this comprehensive statement regarding general admission matters:

•    Sole Official Information Channel and Clarification on Joint Programmes: All information, admission requirements, and policies regarding PolyU SPEED’s programmes and legitimate joint projects are published exclusively on our official website (www.speed-polyu.edu.hk). With the exception of the joint programmes explicitly listed on our website, such as the top-up degree programmes jointly offered with Northumbria University, UK, leading to overseas university awards, professional and business English training courses, and continuing education courses, any other unlisted programmes claiming to be co-organised with the School are entirely fictitious. 
•    No Authorised Intermediaries: The School has never commissioned, authorised, or collaborated with any local or non-local (including mainland China) recruitment intermediaries for student admission. Furthermore, there are no mechanisms such as “internal recommendations”, “guaranteed admissions”, or “advance reservations”.
•    No Unofficial Fee Collection: All application and tuition fees must be paid directly into the School’s designated official bank accounts. Any “programme fees”, “agency fees”, or “deposit fees” collected by any institution or intermediary under the guise of PolyU SPEED or a purported joint programme are absolutely unrelated to PolyU SPEED.
•    Right to Take Legal Action: PolyU SPEED reserves all rights to take legal action in both Hong Kong and mainland China against any institution or intermediary who abuses the School’s name, forges official documents, or disseminates false recruitment information to deceive the public.
Important Reminder:

We strongly urge the public (especially mainland applicants) to remain highly vigilant. Please do not trust information from unofficial channels or pay fees to any suspicious intermediaries or institutions to avoid financial loss.
