PolyU SPEED’s Second Elite Ambassador Programme Connects Graduates and Students through Mentorship and Professional Networking
23 Oct 2026
PolyU SPEED held the Welcome Luncheon for the second cohort of its Elite Ambassador Programme on 23 October 2026, bringing together graduating master’s students and current students to foster cross-cohort exchange, experience sharing and professional networking.
For the first time, Student Ambassadors were included in the initiative, enabling current students to connect with Elite Ambassadors from diverse professional backgrounds and expanding the Programme’s network across both the alumni and student communities.
The gathering was particularly meaningful as PolyU SPEED’s three-day Graduation Ceremony commenced the following day. This year also marked the graduation of PolyU SPEED’s first cohort of master’s students. Drawn from this graduating cohort, the second group of Elite Ambassadors gathered with current Student Ambassadors at an important moment in their academic journey, sharing their learning experiences and professional insights with the next generation.
At the luncheon, Dr Jason Chan, MH, JP, Director of PolyU SPEED, presented certificates of appreciation to the Elite Ambassadors and Student Ambassadors. Other School representatives attending the event included Dr Andrew Wu, Programme Leader of the Master of Science in AI and Emerging Technologies for Management, and Mr Jackie Siu, Interim Head of Marketing and Communications.
Connecting Talent across Programmes and Industries
The Elite Ambassadors and Student Ambassadors came from a range of PolyU SPEED master’s programmes, including the Master of Science in Green Business Management, Master of Arts in Chinese Creative Writing and Media Culture, and Master of Science in AI and Emerging Technologies for Management.
They represent diverse professional fields, including education, information technology, financial services and insurance, technology education, design, manufacturing and trading. Among the Elite Ambassadors, Feng Mian works at a private higher education institution in the Chinese mainland; Jiang Hua is a company founder and general manager; Sun Jiahui is the founder of a mainland technology and trading company; Zhang Yichen is the general manager of a mainland building materials company; and Zhang Yufeng works in the technology education sector.
The Student Ambassadors likewise brought different academic and professional perspectives. Kan Kin-wai heads an information technology company, Lam King-yan is a certified ESG manager, Huang Shiying is a mainland blogger, and Su Yimin works in the insurance sector.
Director Encourages First Master’s Graduates to Stay Connected
Dr Chan said, “The graduation of our first cohort of master’s students holds particular significance for PolyU SPEED. They are not only completing an important stage of their studies, but also embarking on new chapters across different professional fields. I look forward to seeing our graduates apply what they have learned and make a positive impact through their respective roles. Through the Elite Ambassador Programme, I also hope that they will share their experience and industry insights with current students, helping us build a mutually supportive professional network committed to continuous learning.”
Turning Learning into Momentum for Career Development
The luncheon provided a relaxed setting for Elite Ambassadors and Student Ambassadors to exchange perspectives on study, work, personal development and future plans. Recorded interviews were also conducted, inviting ambassadors to explain why they chose PolyU SPEED and how their master’s studies had broadened their professional outlook and supported their career and personal development.
Jiang Hua, an Elite Ambassador and graduate of the Master of Science in Green Business Management, is a company founder and general manager. For an experienced business leader, returning to study offered not only an opportunity to acquire new knowledge, but also a chance to reconsider business management and sustainable development from fresh perspectives.
Jiang said:“Through managing a business, I have seen how markets and business models continue to evolve, making continuous learning essential for managers. I chose PolyU SPEED because I wanted to gain new management perspectives through structured learning. The Master of Science in Green Business Management has deepened my understanding of the relationship between sustainability and business operations. It has also encouraged me to approach practical management and business challenges from a more comprehensive and long-term perspective.”
He also encouraged mainland students considering further study in Hong Kong to look beyond obtaining a qualification, make the most of opportunities to broaden their horizons and engage with classmates from different backgrounds, and connect what they learn in the classroom with their own professional goals.
Student Ambassadors Join the Programme for the First Time
The introduction of Student Ambassadors added a new dimension to the second cohort, giving current students opportunities to participate in School activities, expand their networks and learn from graduating Elite Ambassadors while pursuing their studies.
Huang Shiying, a Student Ambassador studying the Master of Arts in Chinese Creative Writing and Media Culture, chose PolyU SPEED to deepen her understanding of Chinese creative writing, media and culture through structured academic study and to apply that knowledge to content creation.
Huang said, “I have always been interested in Chinese writing and media content. I wanted to move beyond creating solely from personal experience and develop a more systematic understanding of how creative works, media and social culture interact. The PolyU SPEED programme has introduced me to different creative approaches and perspectives while encouraging discussion and reflection in class. The experience has given me greater confidence in organising my ideas and creating content with more depth and a clearer individual voice.”
Su Yimin, also a Student Ambassador in the Master of Arts in Chinese Creative Writing and Media Culture, said that the programme had allowed her to rediscover her interest in writing and culture alongside her professional commitments, while strengthening her ability to understand people and society from different perspectives.
Su said, “I chose PolyU SPEED because the programme brings together writing, culture and media in a way that closely matches my goal of broadening my personal outlook. Communication and an understanding of different needs are important in my daily work. The programme has encouraged me to observe and listen more carefully, and to express my ideas with greater clarity and depth. The open learning environment and the diverse backgrounds of my classmates have also shown me that the same issue can be understood from many perspectives, which has benefited both my personal growth and my work.”
