PolyU SPEED Students Awarded Three Grand Prizes in International Logistics Case Competition
18 Aug 2016
Organised by Hong Kong Logistics Association (HKLA), the 7th International Logistics Case Competition was held successfully in Korea in July 2016. This year, the case competition attracted tertiary students from four places, namely Beijing, Hong Kong,
Korea and Singapore. Two students from PolyU SPEED Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Scheme in Business achieved great performance at the competition by reaping three awards including “Champion Team”, “Greatest Innovation Team” and “The Best Social Convenor”.
Apart from visiting different corporations and logistics facilities in Korea, such as Korean Air and Kerry Logistics, participating students needed to deliver practical and innovative proposals on logistics solutions to the judging panel and senior management of relevant corporations.
After company visits, case discussions and three rounds of case presentations, Miss Amy Wong, a student from Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business (Operations and Supply Chain Management) of PolyU SPEED, and her team won the awards of “Champion Team” and “Greatest Innovation Team”.
Amy thanked the School and HKLA for organising this competition, and her mentor for coaching her zealously. Through collaboration and interaction with teammates from other regions, she learned to appreciate different cultures. Being the team leader, she had to discuss the case with her team members. Together, they kept trying so hard that they finally won the competition. What she learnt through this competition is, “You will never succeed unless you give it a try.”
Moreover, Miss Rio Hui, a student from Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business (International Business) of PolyU SPEED, was voted “The Best Social Convenor” by all participating students as her positivity and team spirit helped forge friendship among the participants.
The Competition helped students enhance their problem-solving and presentation skills as well as critical thinking abilities. Through company visits and case presentations, they broadened their horizons by having cultural exchanges with participating students, mentors and judges from different regions, and deepened the understanding of international commerce and logistics operations.
