PolyU SPEED’s Property Management Services Authority Specified Courses Send Forth First Cohort of About 300 Graduates
The School of Professional Education and Executive Development of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU SPEED) has been appointed by the Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) to offer PMSA Specified Courses which aim to assist provisional property management practitioners in applying for a formal licence. These courses, well-received by practitioners and companies as corporate training, recently sent forth their first cohort of about 300 graduates who will contribute their expertise to facilitate the professionalisation of the property management industry.
Property Management Courses Becoming Highly Valued
In recent years, the PMSA has implemented to professionalise property management practitioners and the industry as a whole through a licensing regime. In his address at the graduation ceremony on 31 July, Mr Tony Tse, PMSA Chairperson cum LegCo Member, said, “High-quality property management is of utmost importance in Hong Kong as it not only elevates the quality of property itself but also improves the well-being of the public.”
Dr Simon Cheung, Head of Continuing Education of the Continuing Education Office of PolyU SPEED, said, “Emphasising the integration of theory and practice, the PMSA Specified Courses aim to professionalise the property management industry so as to establish Hong Kong as a model city for property management and develop an effective code of conduct.”
Courses Pitched at Qualifications Framework Level 4
A graduate shared at the ceremony, “The course has reinforced my legal knowledge and understanding of the relevant code regarding property management. Industry professionals’ sharing has also offered me ideas about how to handle my work more smoothly in the future.” Offered for the first time, the PMSA Specified Courses were highly valued by the property management industry. Counting among the course graduates were three practitioners aged over 70, whose participation amply underpinned the importance and spirit of lifelong learning.
Taught by PolyU SPEED lecturers, seasoned industry professionals, surveyors and lawyers, the PMSA Specified Courses (Tier 1 and Tier 2) at PolyU SPEED are pitched at Hong Kong Qualifications Framework Level 4 and have been included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund.
