Student Volunteers Spread Love and Care in Sham Shui Po

The PolyU CPCE Volunteer Network recently arranged for students to join the “Rice Love Mission”, a community outreach initiative in which they partnered with Sham Shui Po residents to distribute free rice to those living in old buildings. 

From June to December 2025, the project enlists “Rice Ambassadors” to visit grassroots households, gifting bags of rice while identifying residents’ needs and matching them with community resources.

About 10 student volunteers from PolyU CPCE took on the role of “Intern Rice Ambassadors”, receiving communication skills training and gaining deeper insight into the Sham Shui Po community. They not only accompanied “Rice Ambassadors” on visits and interacted with the residents, but also became “Intern Editors”, documenting and sharing touching stories of compassion on media platforms. Their efforts helped promote a culture of mutual support and affection throughout the neighborhood.
