PolyU SPEED Virtual Career Fair 2020 cum Employability Week
17 Jun 2020
The School of Professional Education and Executive Development of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU SPEED), in collaboration with the Student Affairs Office of the College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) of PolyU and CTgoodjobs, is organising the PolyU SPEED Virtual Career Fair 2020 (18 & 19 June) cum Employability Week (15 to 19 June) to provide employment opportunities for graduating students and to enhance their employability.
With the theme of “Striding Towards The New Frontier: Diverse, Innovative, Professional” this year’s fair is supported by more than 60 companies and corporations, covering over 20 industries including accounting, advertising, banking and finance, engineering, healthcare, hospitality, IT, and logistics. Students can interact instantly with company representatives online. The fair will also provide PolyU HKCC sub-degree students with advice on further education (including consultation on PolyU SPEED’s programmes), so as to help them plan their further studies.
CPCE is one of the biggest self-financed tertiary education institutions in Hong Kong; its two educational units, namely PolyU HKCC and PolyU SPEED, have a total full-time student population of over 12,000. “We have been working closely with the business sector, and we have received from many renowned corporations in Hong Kong support in various areas including programmes, scientific research, internships, and employment. The annual career fair is also an important collaborative event which offers our students a great deal of help in seeking employment,” said Prof Peter P. Yuen, Dean of CPCE.
Dr Jack Lo, Director of PolyU SPEED, also said, “The COVID-19 pandemic had led to an economic downturn in Hong Kong, so our students may worry about the employment situation. In view of this, ECD-WIE (Employability Competency Development Work-Integrated Education) Office organises this online career fair to help our work-ready students find their preferred jobs and set clear career goals.”
Besides, PolyU SPEED will conduct a series of Employability Competency Development Workshops on IT, soft skills, and communication skills in the workplace — these activities will start from the Employability Week (15-19 June) and last to the end of August.
