Programme Features
- You will obtain solid knowledge and develop skills in mechanical engineering including thermofluids, mechanics and materials engineering, dynamics and control, design and manufacturing technology
You can choose to specialise in one of the three technical streams: Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Design and Automation or Mechanical Services and Environmental Engineering
You have an opportunity to participate in internships; past students have been trained in MTR, Towngas, CLP, HKElectric, HAECO, Civil Aviation Department, Marine Department, China State Construction Engineering, Etc.
Upon graduation, you can undergo ‘Scheme A Graduate Training’ in an organisation recognised by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE)

Professional Recognition
The BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering (Top-up programme) is accredited by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). Graduates are eligible for Scheme “A” Training in the disciplines of Aircraft (ACE), Building Services (BSS), Control, Automation & Instrumentation (CAI), Gas (GAS), Energy (ENY), and Mechanical (MCL). Accreditation for the 4-year programme is subject to approval by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).

Programme Structure
The programme of study consists of at least 127 credits (including 3 training credits). All students are also required to complete 80 hours of non-credit-bearing Work-Integrated
Education component.

Entrance Requirements
For HKDSE qualification holders:
- Level 3 in Chinese Language and English Language;
- Level 2 in Mathematics;
- “Attained” level in Citizenship and Social Development; and
- Level 2 or “Attained” level in one elective subject
Subject Preference:
- Level 2 in one of extended modules in Mathematics; or
- Level 2 in Physics or Combined Science (with a Physics component with Level 2)
For holders of other qualifications:
- The equivalents of the above requirements.
For those who do not possess the above-mentioned qualifications but have reached the age of 25 before 1 September in the admission year, they may apply as “mature” applicants. They must demonstrate sufficient motivation, knowledge and potential to indicate a high probability of being able to complete the programme successfully.
