Course Information
This course aims to provide general concepts, principles and guidelines in the handling of dangerous goods (DG) for executive, operative, customer service, marketing & sales and documentation staff who have to deal with enquiries, bookings, documentation, monitoring & physical handling of dangerous goods in the shipping business.
Target Participants
1. Liner Shipping Companies, Freight Forwarders and Logistics Companies
- Executive Staff who have to formulate and take charge of DG acceptance policy and practice
- Marketing & Sales Staff who have to deal with DG enquiries and liaison with DG clients
- Customer Service Staff who have to handle DG enquiries and bookings
- Operative Staff who have to supervise, monitor and/or handle DG operations
- Documentation Staff who have to deliver DG documents
2. Shippers, Importers and Exporters
- Shippers, importers and exporters who have or might have DG shipments
3. All new entrants and those who wish to know more or refresh their concepts in DG shipments
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the role and importance of international maritime dangerous goods in the business context
- Integrate knowledge and skills in international maritime dangerous goods operations

Dangerous goods segregation

Entry Requirements
Able to understand simple English
Certification
Participants who have passed and completed the assessments, and attended at least 75% of the course will be presented with a Certificate of Completion from PolyU SPEED.

Enrollment Fee Refund
The enrollment fee is eligible for "Professional Training and Examination Refund Scheme (Maritime)" under the Maritime and Aviation Training Fund, for details please refer to the notes in the leaflet. Each successful applicant will be refunded maximum 80% of the fees.
Eligibility
- The applicant must -
1. be a Hong Kong resident and lawfully employable in Hong Kong; and
2. be in full-time employment in the maritime sector with an organisation/company in Hong Kong at the time of application (with valid employment proof)
- the applicant has enrolled in or taken one of the pre-approved courses or examinations, and has completed the course to the satisfaction of the course provider or passed the examination; and
- the applicant has not been granted any other forms of subsidy or financial assistance for the relevant pre-approved course/examination.
